The Supreme Court maintains a comprehensive archive of all judgments, rulings, and orders of the Court. These records are available to legal practitioners, academic researchers, journalists, and members of the public subject to applicable regulations.

Accessing Judgments

All judgments of the Supreme Court are public documents. They may be accessed through the following channels:

  • Online Judgments Portal: A searchable database of Supreme Court judgments is available on this website. Judgments can be searched by year, case name, subject matter, or case number.
  • Physical Registry: Certified True Copies (CTCs) of judgments and court orders can be obtained from the Registry upon application and payment of the prescribed fee.
  • Supreme Court Library: The Court’s library maintains bound volumes of the Nigerian Supreme Court Reports (NSCR) and the All Nigeria Law Reports (ANLR) for in-library use.

Certified True Copies (CTCs)

A Certified True Copy is a court-authenticated copy of a judgment or order. CTCs are required in most legal proceedings as proof of prior decisions. To obtain a CTC:

  • Complete the CTC Application Form available at the Registry.
  • Provide the case number, parties’ names, and date of judgment.
  • Pay the applicable certification fee.
  • Allow 5–10 working days for processing (urgent requests may attract an expedited fee).

Record of Proceedings

Parties to an appeal may apply for the compilation of the Record of Proceedings from the original court. The Registry coordinates with lower courts to compile and transmit records to the Supreme Court.
